• called the rose of Jericho
• wraps itself around trees to the height of even several metres
• in Mazowsze present only in the area of the Chojnowski Landscape Park
• has a strong smell and original flowers
• pollinated only by hawk moths
• has dark-red, ball-shaped fruits
• under species protection

The Baszkówka meteorite
• named after the place where it fell on the 25 August 1994
• one of the most beautiful oriented meteorites in the world
• found in a hole in the ground measuring 1,5 m in diameter
• has the shape of a mushroom cap of the diameter of 25-30 cm
• weighs 15,5 kg
• covered with regmaglipts
• the original is in the Museum of Geology in Warsaw
• a copy can be seen in the Branch of the Public Library in Głosków

Archaeological excavations

• numerous archaeological discoveries in the village of Siedliska
• in 2006 remains from 2 thousands years ago were found
• the objects found included fragments of ceramic works, decorations and arrowheads related to the Przeworsk culture
• in 2007 were found remainders of heating iron ores in a primitive smelting furnace
• the excavations allow archaeologists to describe the funeral customs of the Przeworsk culture in greater detail

The Boulder of Mazury

• a red granitoid
• the biggest erratic boulder in Mazowsze – 17,5 m in circumference and 2,5 m high
• weighs 100 tonnes
• brought by a glacier from Scandinavia during the ice age
• dug out in 1985 during the construction works of a settlement which was named “At the Stone” to honour the finding
• located at the cross-roads of ul. Granitowa and Energetyczna in Piaseczno
• it is a monument of nature

• a farm (visitors welcome) created in 1998 in Gołków
• the place to see African and Australian ostriches, Emu ostriches as well as white fallow deer, wild boars, peacocks, guinea fowls and pheasants
• the place holds educational classes and runs a small souvenir shop selling: empty egg shells, decorations, small lamps, belts, bags etc.
• an ostrich egg can be scrambled – a meal for 8-10 people – boiled soft (45 min) or hard (90 min)
• ostriches can be as tall as 270 cm and weigh 150 kg
• the ostrich loves to run and is able to reach the speed of up to 60 km/h

• due to the variety of buildings and landscape and the proximity of Warsaw, the commune hosts many film plans, such as: “M jak Miłość” (L like Love), “I kto tu rządzi” (Who’s the Boss Here), “Dwie strony medalu”(Two sides of the Coin), “Kryminalni” (Criminal Police), “Regina”, “Barwy szczęścia”(Colours of Happiness) and “Plebania”(The Presbytery)
• our office turned on the plan of “M jak Miłość” series into the seat of the authorities of Grodek
• green areas, in particular the Simon Hills and the Wisla Centre in Zalesie Gorne have been used numerous times as the background of film shootings and advertisement spots
